Eternal Damnation! I love Toronto

Humanist Canada is trying to run a campaign with the message, "You Can Be Good Without God" on buses and in subway stations across Canada over the next few weeks.

The unorthodox campaign ran last fall in London, England, with bus ads that read, "There's probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life."

Martin Beckford of the London Telegraph, reported that the campaign was inspired after Ariane Sherine, a comedy writer, called for a "reassuring counter-advert to religious posters on public transport that atheists believe threaten passengers with eternal damnation."

Cue the hoopla, bring on the clones.

Of course some in cities across Canada are protesting the signs. Halifax Transit says no, TTC says yes, Vancouver still mulling over the question.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ..no need for a campaign at all. There's been more talk about God than there has been for a long time, and that's good for both sides of the issue.

Here's to the TTC that stands for Free Speech...I hope

Ontario Health Ministry- Evil Balls, put them away!

Who would have guessed that a government of Ontario agency would be trying to get the attention of 18-35 year old men by creating an ad about swollen balls.

Mumps is back and it sucks!

Sheeeeeeep! Mr and Mrs Potato Head do stereotype

Most fans say the Super Bowl game couldn’t have been better. But most ad analysts agree the big game’s ads were disappointing, generating fewer laughs than usual and playing things much safer than past years. They say it reflects the downbeat mood of the country as economic woes grow. There was the horrible Cash4Gold ad too. Imagine in the big old money pit that is the Superbowl an ad telling you how to get some quick cash by selling your grandma's gold. OK they didn't say to sell her gold but it meant as much.
According to AdBowl the bigger winner was Bridgestone. "The tire company nabbed first and second place with “Taters,” a spot that featured Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, and “Hot Item,” where astronauts get their Bridgestones stolen from their moon crawler."

Part nostalgia and part stereotype, but I did chuckle--not sure if I will find it funny again and again though.

Moon Crawler, a little funny, but kind of one joke-joke

Mushy mush..don't worry TV only softens the brain

Hulu.com had an interestingly funny commercial in this year's Superbowl.

"They say TV will rot your brain. That's absurd. TV only softens the brain...mushy mush..once your brain is reduced to a cottage cheese like mush, we'll scoop them out with a melonballer and gobble them right on up"

Ouch the truth hurts, but it's funny. Why is that?

True Love Superbowl 2009

We all have perhaps wondered about the kind of true love that will take on all odds. Well Budweiser has shown us what it is in their Circus Superbowl commercial

No wonder I haven't got it right. I've been looking at men when I should have found a horse!

If you sit next to this guy?

Gee I'm glad I love my job. When I see ads like this one for Career Builder, I'm reminded how lucky I am.

..and very glad I don't sit next to that guy!

McNugget Love..you've got to be kidding!

Here are the lyrics:

"Ah Baby Not Again
I Woke Up And Found You Creepin (Tip Toe Tip)
Oh Girl I Know Your Secret (You Dippin On Me?)
Got That McNuggets Lovin'
It Just Ain't Fair Why Can't You Share Your Love With Me
You Went To McDonalds?
It Just Ain't Fair Why Why Why Can't You Share Your Love With Me
Then You Dipped Dipped Dipped Dipped Dipped
It Just Ain't Fair Why Can't Why Why Why Can't You Share Your Love With Me

(Nice song, but you still ain't getting any of my..crispy..juicy McNuggets)
Girl You Got A 10 Piece Please Don't Be Stingayyy"

What it says, what it means... oh no!

Vegetables and Sex- Peta and no superbowl

Peta submitted an ad for approval to NBC for use in the Superbowl. Of course they had no intention of paying the $3 million for the ad space, but they got what they wanted..a big fat rejection and buzz and views and talk..I just don't know what to say about this one

From NBC, "The PETA spot submitted to Advertising Standards depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards."

Who knew there was a rat in the Viagra! Be afraid!

Pfizer says they are concerned for men. What's the problem? Well, they say that knock-off version of viagra that men may be purchasing over the internet may be harmful to their health. So Pfizer produced this over the top cinema ad to put a little fear into those amorous men.

On their site Pfizer explains that they made a realistic rat out of sponge that the actor had to shove in his mouth. They explain how real rats were also used but make sure to mention that no rats were sacrificed for the cause; they were already dead. You can see the making of the ad here The Making of the Pfizer Rat ad

Will it work? From most of what I've read on fear, over the top doesn't work if it is too scary. What works is a medium fear that gives a solution. What it has done though is raise the issue in a way that will create buzz...and buzz today goes a long way.
